At The Gentlemen’s Corner, we believe in uplifting and acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our young men. This month, we are proud to feature our 8yr old student “SG”, a shining example of what it means to be a gentleman in today’s world.
Meet “SG”
Shining Behind The Spotlight
SG has received numerous awards, including the Awana Award for completing three books. He is an expert at memorizing Bible verses. For the 2024–2025 school year, SG has earned multiple honors, including being recognized as an AVID Student, an A Honor Roll Student, a Guzick Student Award recipient, and the Student of the Year in his 2nd grade class.
SG is always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he’s needed. Whether it’s taking out the trash, lifting heavy boxes that are too difficult for him to handle, or serving on a team that packs food for underprivileged children in other countries, SG is always ready to step up & serve.
Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing SG’s growth and maturity. Most of the time, he’s a well-behaved, easygoing young boy who’s always the first to volunteer when help is needed. SG has always carried himself like a little gentleman—he enjoys opening doors for ladies and brings a cheerful, joyful spirit wherever he goes. He loves trying new things and embracing new experiences.
However, there was a time when SG was on shaky ground and struggling with decision-making. He needed guidance, stabilty, and encouragement. That’s when he was introduced to a leader from the “Gentlemen Mentoring Group.” Through this program, SG learned the value of respect, leadership, teamwork, and honoring authority. He especially appreciated having a mentor who not only taught these principles but also modeled what it means to be a man of God. He thoroughly enjoyed both the meaningful lessons and the fun activities that came with the mentoring experience. SG’s overall demeanor has noticeably improved for the better.
Although S.G. is still young, I believe the influence of his mentor has had a lasting impact on him. He has developed into a positive and encouraging individual, with a renewed sense of confidence in his abilities and a clearer understanding of how he can support and uplift others. This experience is one he will carry with him for life.
A Word from “SG“
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from The Gentlemen Mentoring Group Inc. is responsibility! Mr. Kevin is a good big brother. He’s nice to me and makes time to hang out with me. We love playing football together outside. He teaches me how to act and gives me cool things. Thank you Mr. Kevin and I love you. I am grateful for the guidance and support from my mentors and family, and I will continue to strive for greatness.”
